In order to stay abreast of global issues and instances of censorship, fD has established regional hubs in New York City, São Paulo, Berlin, Cairo and Pondicherry. These offices based within partner centers provide on-the-ground support for local initiatives that link partner centers, activists and human rights organizations. This decentralized approach helps to build ownership and distribute the decision-making functions of the network.
In order to keep up with the increasing complexity and evolution of the international network, fD has formed this web-based community (powered by the Ning platform) that provides public and private spaces for each network member. In tandem with outreach efforts on existing social networks like Facebook and MySpace, the Ning provides public information on programs and events while also enabling human rights organizations to safely and securely nominate activists-in-distress to member centers. For more about this site and how to use it, visit Get Involved.
In addition to ongoing activities in our regional hubs and online, fD hosts retreats for Member Groups such as Emerging Arts Spaces and Staff & Volunteers and participates in convergences such as the Institute for Network Cultures' Winter Camp.
freeDimensional isn't just an online network - it's an international organization. This page provides a definitive list of our formal affiliates around the world, and links to their profiles and groups on our website, where available.
